“One History – Many Stories” is an international summer school that explores key historical and political questions. It brings together young people from Germany, Poland, and Ukraine in the German-Polish border town of GörlitZgorzelec to examine the history of Nazi forced labor from multiple perspectives. Participants research the biographies of victims while also reflecting on their own family histories to uncover possible connections across borders and generations.
Through field visits, archival research, and discussions with experts, the group engages critically with historical sources and their relevance today. Creative workshops complement this work by transforming research findings into innovative narrative formats, which present biographies of victims of NS forced labor in thoughtful and accessible ways.
Using both analog and digital approaches, “One History – Many Stories” builds lasting cross-border connections and encourages participants to apply historical insights to contemporary challenges. In doing so, it contributes to strengthening democratic values and fostering dialogue in a diverse and interconnected Europe.
This homepage gathers the personal works of the participants. The archive presents short films, photographs, documents, and audio formats. Each project appears as its own full screen chapter; scroll to explore.
